About
Your next blood drive at the 11th arrondissement City Hall
A blood collection will be organized in the party hall of the 11th arrondissement City Hall on Friday, October 23 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Blood donation: how does it work?
This is the most common form of donation; it is simple, fast, and useful to the greatest number of people. Blood donation allows for the collection of all blood components at once: red blood cells, plasma, and platelets, which are then separated, with the patient receiving only the blood product(s) they need.
Before you come ()Your online self-assessment
Practical and fast, our online test allows you to check in less than 5 minutes before coming if you meet the main conditions to donate your blood. This test will be completed during the pre-donation interview conducted on-site with authorized personnel.
Your appointment
Do you want to donate your blood near your home or workplace? In a few clicks, find the closest location and book a slot to donate your blood and save lives near you.
Your preparation on the day
Are you feeling fit? Perfect, you are ready to donate blood!
Have a good breakfast or a balanced lunch before coming.
Stay hydrated: drink water or fruit juice. Avoid alcoholic beverages in the hours preceding the donation.
A personalized welcome (8-10 minutes)
Upon arrival, our team welcomes you and checks your identity document. The pre-donation questionnaire is then given to you.
Your medical interview (5-6 minutes)
This is a privileged moment of exchange between a doctor or nurse and you. This confidential interview allows us to guarantee your safety and that of the people who will receive the blood products from your donation.
If there are contraindications to your donation, the discussion continues! Our team will explain to you why it is not possible this time. Rest assured, in 90% of cases, you will be able to come back and donate soon.
The donation (8-10 minutes)
The blood donation is performed while lying down and under supervision. The volume collected is adapted to each person: it varies between 420 and 480 ml, depending on the weight and height of the donor.
A friendly moment at the A+ break (20 minutes)
To get back on your feet, take the time to enjoy our snack for at least 20 minutes in the company of other donors and volunteers and relax under the caring eye of our medical team.
Note: Although blood volume regenerates quickly after a collection, do not perform intense physical exercise in the hours following the donation.
If up to 15 days after your visit you experience fever or any other signs of infection, contact us immediately by phone. This follow-up is important for your safety and that of the recipient.
Dietary advice
To recover well after a blood donation, make sure to consume foods rich in iron such as lentils, peas, broad beans, seafood, etc.
