The meeting series

Threats to the Rule of Law! is an international series of meetings analyzing the major challenges facing contemporary democracies. Globally and within Europe, the rise of populism and authoritarian regimes is weakening the rule of law, redefining relationships with power, and testing the very foundations of our societies. This series, hosted by journalist Salomé Saqué and initiated by Le Carreau du Temple, offers six major meetings to decode the mechanisms at work: extreme polarization, distrust of institutions, attacks on minorities, the changing media landscape, and the instrumentalization of identities.

The goal is to bring together intellectuals, researchers, and civil society actors to understand these dynamics and explore democratic antidotes, such as media literacy, citizen participation, or social justice.

Le Carreau du Temple aims to integrate this series into a network of partnerships with European cultural venues, with one meeting per month, connecting Paris to another European capital or major city.

Salomé Saqué, an economic and political journalist, covers topics such as ecology, social justice, women's rights, and youth, and warns of the dangers posed by the rise of the far-right.
