Le Carreau du Temple presents Open my chest and place our tomorrows inside, a choreographic work by Emmanuel Eggermont running on January 12 and 13, 2027. This piece examines the values and cultural influences of Generation Z, based on insights gathered from a hundred young people. Through a dynamic performance that blends movement with an evolving stage design, the artist offers an optimistic look at the next generation's future. The show is suitable for audiences aged 12 and up and lasts for one hour. Experience this thoughtful portrait of modern youth in the heart of Paris's 3rd arrondissement.
Dancing our future, letting ourselves be moved by the passions of a youth, passionate... but about what? The gesture of an artist who lends his body to the abundance of Gen Z, tracing an optimism we thought was lost. A sensitive manifesto.
What does the youth swear by? The famous Generation Z, these citizens who are around twenty years old, who will vote or have just voted for the first time, seem to have less confidence in the future than their elders. But what is it really like? Emmanuel Eggermont asked a hundred of them, with very varied socio-cultural profiles, to share the sources of inspiration that drive them daily: cult films, favorite music, video games, images, novels, or poems... Thus is formed the radiography of their experience of the world.
Except that Emmanuel Eggermont's intention is not to restore a catalog. With a precise architecture articulated down to the smallest gesture, he builds a living and multiple choreographic score, crossed by a subjective vision of certain references. The atmosphere of a piece in perpetual construction is found even in the scenography designed in complicity with Paolo Morvan. The sound layers of Julien Lepreux (Rouge Gazon) and the electronic melodies of the young prodigy leisurely t that animate Open my chest… respond in turn to the universe of the generation that will forge the world's future.

Our take on this event
As part of the Faits d’hiver festival, choreographer Emmanuel Eggermont brings Open my chest and place our tomorrows inside to Le Carreau du Temple. Performances are scheduled for January 12 and 13, 2027, from 19:30 to 20:30. To build this project, Eggermont interviewed a hundred young adults about their daily inspirations, including favorite films, music, and literature. These personal testimonies are transformed into a precise choreographic structure, enriched by Paolo Morvan’s stage design and an electronic soundtrack featuring Julien Lepreux and leisurely t.
Tickets for the performance range from 11 to 22 euros. For those interested in a deeper engagement, an adult dance workshop with Emmanuel Eggermont will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2027, from 16:00 to 19:00. This workshop is open to all skill levels. Combined tickets for the workshop and the show are available from 22 to 32 euros, with a special rate of 22 euros for Carte Carreau holders.
