From September 30, 2026, to January 3, 2027, the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris presents woven thin*, a significant exhibition dedicated to the work of Florian Krewer. Through sixteen large-scale paintings, some displayed for the first time, the artist explores themes of collective resilience and raw human intimacy within shifting urban landscapes. This immersive experience is free of charge and fully accessible to visitors with various disabilities, including wheelchair access and specific provisions for those with hearing, visual, or cognitive impairments.
Krewer's practice is deeply autobiographical, fueled by a direct confrontation with the world around him, in all its raw beauty and violence. Drawing from both his lived experience and his imagination, the gallery of characters that populates his ethereal landscapes and interiors is stripped of all context and seems to lead an autonomous existence. Dancers, performers, animals, and solitary figures cross shifting urban landscapes. They appear detached, as if freed from the gravity of the physical world and its social constraints. In this weightless universe, Krewer's paintings celebrate moments of intimacy and collective resilience in the midst of a mostly hostile environment. At the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, sixteen recent monumental canvases are on display, some of which are previously unseen. Hung closely together, they produce a dense pictorial panorama that reflects the intensity of the artist's practice.
Florian Krewer (born in 1986 in Gerolstein, Germany) studied painting at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. His recent institutional exhibitions include Nice Dog, M WOODS Museum, Beijing (2023); everybody rise, Aspen Art Museum (2023); and Es liebt Dich und Deine Körperlichkeit ein Verwirrter, Kunsthalle Düsseldorf (2022). His works are present in the collections of the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris; the Musée national d'art moderne - Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; and the Albertina Museum, Vienna. In 2022, Krewer received the Jean-François Prat Prize from the Bredin Prat endowment fund. He lives and works in the South Bronx, New York.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue published by the VeneKlasen gallery, scheduled for publication in October 2026.

The exhibition is held at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris and runs from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 18:00. Admission is free for all attendees. The museum ensures full accessibility, providing support for visitors in wheelchairs, as well as those who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, or living with cognitive disabilities. A catalogue published by the VeneKlasen gallery will be available starting in October 2026 to complement the visit.
