Planning to hike the Camino de Santiago? Navigating with physical maps can be challenging for beginners, yet it remains a crucial skill when digital devices fail. The Bibliothèque du tourisme et des voyages, alongside Compostelle 2000, hosts a workshop on October 17, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, to master IGN map reading. Held in the 16th arrondissement, this free session is designed for adults aged 18 and over. The venue is wheelchair accessible, but space is strictly limited to 20 people, making prior booking with the library mandatory to secure your attendance.
For those looking to set off on an adventure on the Camino de Santiago for the first time, navigation and hiking map reading can sometimes seem like a daunting obstacle: how do you find your way? What do all those lines on a map mean? How can you be sure to take the right turn? Certainly, GPS exists, but no one is immune to a dead battery! In that case, it is better to be prepared!
For this reason, the Tourism and Travel Library is organizing a workshop with the association Compostelle 2000 to familiarize you with reading IGN maps and learning how to orient yourself on the paths of the Camino de Santiago.
As the workshop is limited to 20 people, reservation is required.
