About

On Saturday, April 10, 2027, the Philharmonie de Paris hosts Jardin secret, a unique concert-reading exploring the personal journey of French pianist Alexandre Tharaud. Weaving together spoken word and music, the performance revisits the artist's path, from his early learning and doubts to his professional triumphs, through excerpts from his book Touché. Featuring works by Chopin, Debussy, and Satie, this event is suitable for audiences aged 12 and over. It features readings by Gilles Privat, Yoann Gasiorowski, and Alexandre Tharaud, with musical accompaniment by Frédéric Vaysse-Knitter.

Following Piano intime, a book of interviews, and Montrez-moi vos mains, published by Grasset in 2017, the French pianist's latest literary work revisits his personal and professional journey through the story of learning his instrument, his inspirations, his doubts, an adolescence hindered by exhaustion, his first concerts, and his recordings. The concert-reading blends excerpts from Touché, spoken by Gilles Privat, a regular collaborator of director Alain Françon, Yoann Gasiorowski, a member of the Comédie-Française since 2018, Alexandre Tharaud himself, and pages by Chopin, Debussy, and Satie: three composers dear to the pianist's heart, performed by his accomplice Frédéric Vaysse-Knitter.
