Join historian Guillaume Mazeau for a series of guided tours exploring the iconic sites of the French Revolution throughout Paris. Throughout 2026, these thematic walks invite participants to uncover the rich history embedded in the city's streets, from intellectual hubs to symbolic landmarks of the revolutionary era. Whether you are a history enthusiast or a curious visitor, these tours offer a unique perspective on the capital's heritage. Participation is completely free of charge, though mandatory online registration is required 15 days prior to each scheduled date.

Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 3:00 PM (duration 2 hours), Concorde district: partially built with stones from the Bastille, the current Pont de la Concorde bears discreet traces of the Revolution. From the great revolutionary celebrations to the blood of the guillotine, and the installation of the National Assembly at the Palais Bourbon, we will discuss the rich history of the former Place de la Révolution. Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM (duration 2 hours), Bastille district: its name is known worldwide. Around the Place de la Bastille, we will follow the traces of July 14, the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, the Beaumarchais theater, or even the discreet plaques of revolutionary laws that still line certain walls of Paris. Friday, March 20, 2026 at 6:00 PM (duration 1 hour), Carnavalet district: around the Carnavalet Museum, which holds the world's richest collections on the French Revolution, an evocation of the traces left by this period, from the broken statue of Louis XIII to the new street names or the construction of a bourgeois building in 1792. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 10:00 AM (duration 2 hours), Champ de Mars district: about it, the historian Michelet wrote: "And the Revolution has as a monument... the void...". Yet there is much to see and say around the great esplanade, the scene of the famous Fête de la Fédération on July 14, 1790. The circuit will mention the explosion of the Grenelle powder mill but also the execution of Bailly, the first mayor of Paris, or the Champ de Mars massacre. Registration starting March 27, 2026
Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 3:00 PM (duration 2 hours), Temple district: organized around the old Temple enclosure, today's walk will take us in front of the Musée des Arts et Métiers, a place of educational and scientific utopias of the revolutionaries, but also to the Saint-Martin and Saint-Denis gates, vestiges of the Ancien Régime that the Revolution wanted to preserve, or to the Françoise-Sagan library, on the site of the former Saint-Lazare enclosure and prison of the same name. Friday, June 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM (duration 1 hour), Louvre and Tuileries district: from the autumn of 1789, with the forced move of the King, the Court, and the National Assembly from Versailles to Paris, the Louvre and Tuileries palaces became the palaces of the Revolution. We will discuss the history of the Committee of Public Safety, the flight of the King, the Jacobin club, or Robespierre's last residence. Registration starting June 12, 2026
Friday, October 23, 2026 at 6:00 PM (duration 1 hour), Odéon district: the Faubourg Saint-Germain was the intellectual and artistic heart of the Revolution in Paris. Many journalists, deputies, scholars, and artists lived there... We will take you on the traces of the revolutionaries with one of the most famous, Danton. Registration starting October 17
Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at 3:00 PM (duration 2 hours), Palais Royal district: even if it seems surprising, the Palais Royal, former residence of Anne of Austria, was also the cauldron of the French Revolution in Paris. We will follow the traces of the great days of 1789, but also the Society of the Friends of the Blacks, the actress and activist Claire Lacombe, or the shop of Rose Bertin, the Queen's modiste. Friday, December 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM (duration 1 hour), Sainte-Geneviève mountain district: seat of universities since the medieval era, the Sainte-Geneviève mountain saw its intellectual vocation strengthened during the Revolution. For the revolutionaries, science and education were meant to be tools for collective emancipation. We will set off to discover the institutions intended to train the future elites of the Republic. The 2026 season of the Parcours Révolution guided tours offers an immersive experience into the history of the French Revolution. Guided by historian Guillaume Mazeau, these walks reveal the lasting impact of this pivotal era on Paris's landscape and urban structure.
The remaining tours for the year are scheduled as follows: the Odéon district on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 18:00; the Palais-Royal area on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, at 15:00; and the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève neighborhood on Friday, December 11, 2026, at 18:00. Depending on the specific route, each tour lasts between one and two hours.
While these educational walks are provided free of charge, attendance is subject to availability. You must register online to secure your place.
