An initiative that enhances the industrial history of Billancourt

The sound and illustrated journey Voyage en Industries (Journey into Industries) invites the general public to dive into the heart of the industrial, social, urban, and architectural history of Billancourt. It allows everyone to reclaim the history of this former iconic industrial site that has given way to the Île Seguin - Rives de Seine Eco-District. It enriches the city's heritage discovery walks, echoing the heritage of the 30s.

Close to the capital, located on the banks of the Seine, along major road axes, the commune became a fertile land for the installation of industries from the 17th century. Over the years, it saw the establishment of the first laundries, tanneries, aircraft engine and automobile industries. It is in this context that the Renault company particularly shaped Billancourt for nearly a century.

Voyage en Industries was born from the common desire of the City of Boulogne-Billancourt and former Renault employees gathered within the associations AMETIS1, ATRIS2, and Renault Histoire, to share human adventures that contributed to an industrial epic and significant social advances. A council of experts composed of historians, sociologists, and curators also contributed to its development.

A sensory walk in the heart of the city of Boulogne-Billancourt

This walk reveals an industrial, material, and immaterial heritage and questions the heritage of tomorrow. The route is marked by 9 stations: Billancourt metro, Place Bir Hakeim, Place Jules Guesde, Avenue Émile Zola, Pierre Dreyfus building, Renault bridge, La Seine Musicale, Métal 57, and the Pont-de-Sèvres district. Each stage invites you to a true sensory experience, illustrated by archival documents.

Interactive and participatory, Voyage en Industries can be done freely, by following the signage in the city or by being accompanied by a tour guide. Each station can also be discovered independently of the others, as one strolls along.

The stations are located between 3 and 10 minutes' walk from each other. The entire route alternates between walking time (45 minutes) and listening time (9 x 5 minutes on average), for a total visit duration between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes. Each memorial station is accompanied by a QR code linking to the audio and visual content. As the first major highlight of the cultural and memorial enhancement project for the Île Seguin - Rives de Seine district carried out by the Pavillon des Projets, this route will be unveiled to the public in its prefiguration phase during the European Heritage Days and accompanied by a rich cultural program. Over time, it will be enriched with content, artworks, and furniture in public spaces thanks to partnerships initiated with the Hauts-de-Seine Department, Renault, Emerige, BNP PI... Eventually, it will also invest in the artistic and cultural center of Île Seguin and become part of the Vallée de la Culture.
