The Professional by George Lautner
New session of the musical film club at the Max Linder Panorama!
Cinéma Max Linder Panorama (Paris 9th)
About
For this autumn screening, Marc Olry invites you to rediscover Jean-Paul Belmondo in his cult role: THE PROFESSIONAL, in a film directed by George Lautner and set to music by our dear Ennio Morricone.
,Summary: A member of the French army's elite, Joss Beaumont is tasked with executing the president of Malagawi. A counter-order comes in, and the target has become a friend of the State. To prevent him from causing harm, Beaumont is imprisoned, but he soon escapes, determined to carry out the operation despite opposition from his superiors.
A screening presented by Sylvain Perret, author of the book Georges Lautner L'œil du professionnel (Editions Carlotta).
Georges Lautner, l'œil du professionnel looks back at the career of a filmmaker too often summarized by Les Tontons flingueurs. Through the analysis of a filmography spanning more than forty feature films, the work reveals the diversity and modernity of an author capable of navigating between comedy, crime, and drama. By recontextualizing his films and collaborations, using rare archives and exclusive interviews, Sylvain Perret restores Lautner's place as a major figure in popular French cinema.
