About

Organized by the City of Paris in partnership with the Île-de-France retirement insurance, the Bien vivre Paris (Living Well in Paris) forum offers a day entirely dedicated to seniors and their loved ones. Throughout the day, visitors will be able to meet with the services of the City of Paris, pension funds, housing stakeholders, health prevention experts, sports organizations, digital services, volunteer engagement initiatives, and social connection groups.

The forum is structured around six major themes: being comfortable with your age, being comfortable in the city, being comfortable with others, being comfortable with your time, being comfortable in your body and mind, and being comfortable at home.

In the salons of the Hôtel de Ville, conferences, participatory workshops, activities, and demonstrations will structure the day, allowing visitors to get informed, exchange ideas, and discover the numerous resources and initiatives offered in Paris.

Visitors will also be able to discover two exhibitions. In the Salle des fêtes, the "Animal Mediator" exhibition highlights the benefits of the human-animal relationship in supporting aging and maintaining social ties. In the Salon des Arcades, the "Senior Volunteers" exhibition showcases the commitment of Parisian seniors and their contribution to the associative and solidarity-based life of the capital.

Conferences

Paris Council Room (Round tables interpreted in French Sign Language - LSF)

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Population aging: facing the demographic revolution

According to INSEE projections for 2070, 32% of the French population will be aged 65 or over, compared to 22% in 2026, and nearly 9 million people could be over 80. In Paris, where nearly 480,000 inhabitants are now over 60, this demographic transition is already underway. Faced with an aging population and the effects of climate change, how can we rethink the city and public action to meet tomorrow's needs? Home care, housing adaptation, development of public services, urban space design, and adaptation to extreme heat: this round table will explore the transformations to be initiated to jointly address demographic and climate challenges and build a city adapted to all stages of life.

Round table moderated by Isabelle Bilger, Deputy Director of Autonomy at the Solidarity Department

Speakers:

  • Maxime Crosnier, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of seniors and demographic issues

2:45 PM - 3:45 PM: The fight against discrimination through the prism of aging

This round table will provide a better understanding of the discrimination that can be exacerbated with age and its effects on life paths. Discrimination and violence against elderly women, the effectiveness of their rights, discrimination affecting elderly LGBTQIA+ people, and ageism will be at the heart of the discussions, with the aim of identifying courses of action and concrete solutions to fight against inequalities and situations of exclusion.

Round table moderated by Flore Capelier, Head of the Parisian Social Observatory

Speakers:

  • Annah Bikouloulou, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of human rights equality, the fight against racism, antisemitism, LGBTQI+phobia, and discrimination
  • Lucie Richard, Project Manager for seniors at CIDFF

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM: Acting collectively against isolation

750,000 elderly people are in a situation of "social death," according to the 3rd Petits Frères des Pauvres Barometer on loneliness and isolation, published in September 2025. This alarming observation highlights isolation as one of the main factors of fragility linked to aging. Deprived of social ties, these people are more exposed to serious repercussions on their health and well-being. This round table will question the collective responses to be provided to this issue. What public policies should be implemented to recreate social ties? What initiatives are working in Paris?

Round table moderated by Pamela Carzoli and Gallianne Chateaux, from the Fabrique de la Solidarité

Speakers:

  • Fatoumata Koné, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of solidarity, the fight against inequalities, and against exclusion
  • Clément Boisseuil, sociologist at APUR and associate researcher at Sciences Po

Our take on this event

City Hall is rolling out the red carpet to show that retirement in Paris is truly just a fresh start. Whether you are looking for health tips, new social circles, or just clever ways to navigate the city, this event brings together the best local resources under one roof. It is the perfect opportunity to stay active, connected, and inspired by all the possibilities the city has to offer.

On Monday, November 2, 2026, the Hôtel de Ville hosts the Bien vivre Paris forum, a dedicated event for seniors and their families. From 10:00 to 17:00, this free event, which requires prior registration, offers a comprehensive look at resources for aging well in the capital. Whether you are looking for information on housing, health, or social activities, this gathering brings together city services and local associations. Open to anyone aged 18 and over, this day is designed to help you navigate public services and community initiatives through conferences, workshops, and exhibitions held in the heart of Paris.

Organized by the City of Paris and the Île-de-France retirement insurance fund, the Bien vivre Paris forum covers six main pillars: age-related well-being, urban life, social connection, digital inclusion, health, and housing. Visitors will have the chance to interact with a wide range of representatives, including social landlords, digital literacy associations, and health professionals, all gathered to provide support and information.

The day features a rich agenda of workshops and live demonstrations. At 11:00, a keynote panel discussion on demographic shifts and urban adaptation will take place in the Council Room, featuring French Sign Language (LSF) interpretation. Attendees can also explore two thematic exhibitions: one showcasing the benefits of animal mediation in the aging process and another highlighting the contributions of senior volunteers to Paris's social fabric.

The event welcomes all adults aged 18 and over. While admission is free, registration is mandatory for all attendees. This is also an opportunity to contribute to a city-wide study on the living conditions of women over 60, allowing participants to share their feedback and experiences directly with municipal authorities.
