About

The youth literary award "Lire dans le 20e" invites young readers to explore a selection of engaging novels from November 14, 2026, to March 20, 2027. Open to everyone aged 7 and up, this challenge encourages participants to read five books categorized by age group before voting for their favorite. Hosted by several libraries in the 20th arrondissement, including the Oscar Wilde library, this cultural initiative is completely free of charge. The event is fully accessible to people with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities.

The Assia Djebar, Couronnes-Naguib Mahfouz, Marguerite Duras, Oscar Wilde, and Maryse Condé libraries, in partnership with a local bookstore and a school library in the 20th arrondissement, have prepared three novel selections for you:

Trèfle (Clover) for 7-9 year olds

Roseau (Reed) for 9-12 year olds

Baobab for 12+ year olds

The goal is to read a selection of 5 novels between November and March, then vote for your favorite. The prize is awarded on Saturday, March 20, during the closing ceremony at each participating library.

Events and workshops surrounding this competition will be organized by the libraries. Don't hesitate to ask a librarian or visit the blog https://liredansle20e.wordpress.com/!

The "Lire dans le 20e" literary prize offers a rewarding reading journey across various venues in the 20th arrondissement, including the Assia Djebar, Couronnes-Naguib Mahfouz, Marguerite Duras, Oscar Wilde, and Maryse Condé libraries. Between November 14, 2026, and March 20, 2027, participants are invited to read five novels tailored to their specific age range: the "Trèfle" selection for 7-9 year olds, "Roseau" for 9-12 year olds, and "Baobab" for those aged 12 and over.

Throughout the duration of the event, each participating library will host workshops and activities to enrich your reading experience.
