About

On December 18, 2026, the Maison de la musique de Nanterre presents Génération A, a performance by Nina Tonji featured as part of the Africolor festival. This concert delves into the musical legacy of the African diaspora, blending West African influences with funk, blues, and classical elements. It serves as a platform for a new generation to redefine their identity through vibrant soundscapes inspired by the iconic artists of the 90s. The show runs from 20:00 to 22:00, with tickets available at prices ranging from 10 to 32 euros for all attendees.

2026, a mirror of hopes and struggles, extends the refrains of the 90s, when Africolor nights saw the emergence of so many artists: Danyel Waro, Angélique Kidjo, Femi Kuti, alongside Oumou Sangaré and Nahawa Doumbia. The Christmas celebrations at the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe in Saint-Denis carried a decade of African musical pride, vibrant and foundational. Today, their heirs, Afro-descendants from here, are recomposing their identities at the crossroads of West Africa, Bach, funk, and the blues.

Our take on this event

Génération A, created by Nina Tonji, is scheduled for Friday, December 18, 2026, as part of the Africolor festival. The venue for this musical event is the Maison de la musique de Nanterre, located at 8 Rue des Anciennes Mairies, 92000 Nanterre. The performance is set to take place from 20:00 to 22:00.

The show draws inspiration from the history of the Africolor nights and the Christmas performances at the Théâtre Gérard-Philipe in Saint-Denis, which helped launch the careers of artists like Danyel Waro and Oumou Sangaré. Building on this foundation, contemporary Afro-descendant artists reconstruct their identity by bridging the gap between West African traditions, funk, blues, and the music of Bach.

Tickets for this performance are priced between 10 and 32 euros. Make sure to organize your visit accordingly to experience this unique showcase of cultural synthesis and musical evolution.
