Is The Second Sex soluble in comics?
→ Wednesday, October 7 at 7:00 PM
A meeting centered on the comic book Beauvoir made in America (Gallimard Bande dessinée).
Beauvoir made in America, born from the documentary The Second Sex, tracing the footsteps of Simone de Beauvoir, follows the philosopher during her 1947 trip to the United States through eight portraits.
This panel discussion explores how Lisa Chetteau's drawings, with their narrative freedom, rock-and-roll style, and access to interiority, renew the reading of The Second Sex for new generations.
Round table moderated by Anne Pauly (writer), with Lisa Chetteau, Valérie Masduraud, and Valérie Urrea (artists).

Meeting with Bobika, author of Mauviette, an investigation into masculinities
Already very present in the United States, masculinism has been on the rise in France for some time. After years of meetings, conversations, and readings on the subject, Bobika offers an investigation into this troubling phenomenon with her comic book Mauviette.
What are the mechanisms that promote, from childhood, the encouragement of toxic masculinity? What are the different currents of a highly structured thought that, nevertheless, relies only on fantasies and preconceived ideas?
Meeting moderated by Clotilde Palluat, publisher. Followed by a book signing.
