About

Initially trained by Sharmila Sharma since 1998, and later a scholarship recipient from the French and Indian governments, Isabelle Anna became a disciple of master Jaikishan Maharaj in New Delhi, where she obtained a postgraduate diploma from the Kathak Kendra institution in 2006, complemented by studies in singing, tabla, and yoga.

Her nine years in India were divided between numerous traditional recitals and her own choreographic creations, the fruits of her research into the sources of Kathak.

As a rare Westerner recognized by the Indian government, she founded her company, Kaléidans’Scop, in 2007 and performs regularly, solo or with Deepak Maharaj, including at the Musée Guimet in April 2012 with Anuj Mishra.

Drawn to pedagogy from a young age, she taught Kathak at the French School of New Delhi and collaborated on educational projects.

Upon her return to Paris, she founded her school at the Centre Mandapa, where she promotes the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana of Lucknow, the tradition of her master, Pt Jaikishan Maharaj.
