Avec les pieds (music/theater) – Jeanne Desoubeaux, Cie Maurice et les autres → by Nicole Genovese

A family dinner. And in the middle of the living room, a giant acacia. In Avec les pieds, Jeanne Desoubeaux blends theater and music to compose a funny and joyfully offbeat tale, where the intrusion of the Other disrupts deeply rooted habits.

At the Moute family's home, everything starts as usual. Or almost. Because this tree, having appeared without warning, upsets the family balance. The Father opposes it, clinging to his certainties. The Mother lets it be, with inexplicable lightness. The Child, a strange and luminous figure, opens another path, one of curiosity. Written by Nicole Genovese, with live music composed by Jérémie Arcache, this burlesque and sensitive fable turns this vegetal emergence into a catalyst for transformation. The tree becomes something that shifts, worries, and forces a change in perspective.

Accessible to young spectators, this mischievous story plays on contrasts, between humor and trouble, absurdity and emotion. An invitation to welcome the unexpected and to look differently at what grows right there, in the middle of our lives.

Le Petit Livre des grandes choses – Linda Edsjö & Wilfried Wendling, based on Le Petit Livre des grandes choses by Sophie Vissière

Teaser: https://youtu.be/9PuNNMM1PFE

The images in Sophie Vissière's book evoke all the senses: sight, touch, smell, taste, and hearing. A child's gaze lands elsewhere and differently than an adult's, and so does their attention. For the sound installation, Linda Edsjö focused on a few images that sparked very strong sound associations: under a tree, children building a tower, a boy gently stroking his mother's belly, a girl falling asleep listening to her father's voice, and also at the beginning of the book, the series of images provides a very marked rhythm! To recreate these spaces and actions, she used field recordings, object sounds, and a few instruments. Voices too, her own and those of her loved ones. And small melodies arrive, like birds landing on a tree.

MINIMAL – Les Percussions de Strasbourg – Works by Camille Pépin, Steve Reich, Nik Bärtsch, Shelley Washington, Yang Song

Teaser: https://youtu.be/gBtO0fz7pw8?si=i7Vd7hy9HkEMP1iK

MINIMAL is a program of four works offering a look at minimalist music through four composers. Mallet Quartet, the work of Steve Reich, an iconic figure of the movement, allows us to trace its history, from its invention to its current influences. Shelley Washington's piece Sunday offers contemporary minimalism, while Camille Pépin proposes a narrative vision, where emotion takes precedence over repetitive mechanics. Finally, Nik Bärtsch explores the meditative and spiritual aspect of Zen minimalism. Built for a percussion quartet (two marimbas and two vibraphones), this program highlights the sonic richness and haunting resonance of these instruments. Between homage to the masters and new perspectives, MINIMAL invites you into an immersion in minimalism in its multiple forms, where each note opens a new horizon.

Our take on this event

Musique(s) Rive Gauche returns with a focus on youth in its 2026 edition, 'La Récré'. Between November 13 and November 22, 2026, the festival offers three varied musical productions held across several iconic Parisian venues.

'Cabane', aimed at ages 10 and up, is hosted at the Théâtre Silvia Monfort. This musical play by Nicole Genovese and Jérémie Arcache tells the whimsical story of a family whose home is transformed by the sudden appearance of a giant tree. Showtimes are scheduled throughout the festival period on November 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22.

For younger children aged 2-6, 'Le Petit Livre des grandes choses' at the Pavillon de la Sirène on November 15 offers an immersive sound experience based on the work of Sophie Vissière, with additional school sessions on November 16. Meanwhile, fans of percussion can attend 'MINIMAL' on November 15 at 17:00 at the Annexe de la Mairie du 14ème arrondissement. Performed by Les Percussions de Strasbourg for ages 6 and up, this concert features works by Steve Reich, Camille Pépin, and others.
