About
Author of the unforgettable Kirikou trilogy, Michel Ocelot created with Azur & Asmar (2006) a new masterpiece of animation that marked an entire generation. Inspired by the Tales of the Thousand and One Nights, Azur & Asmar addresses social issues such as social inequality and the discovery of foreign cultures through the story of two foster brothers - Azur, the blond with blue eyes, and Asmar, the brunette with black eyes - raised by the same woman in a green and flowery land. Brutally separated by life after childhood, both are driven by the desire to find the Djinn Fairy and embark on an epic journey full of lessons that will reunite the two brothers.
Gabriel Yared's original music, specially rearranged by Robin Melchior for this format, will be performed by the Yellow Socks Orchestra, accompanied by Mohamed Najem on the Ney flute and Yousef Zayed on the Oud, in perfect synchronization with the film's projection on the big screen. The opportunity to rediscover as a family this touching and adventurous tale that appeals to both young and old.
