Forget standard food tours and step back ten millennia to uncover the mystic origins of Chinese gastronomy. By blending ancient archaeological artifacts with cutting-edge digital technology, this exhibit maps the evolution of flavors and rituals that shaped an entire civilization. It is the perfect spot to geek out on history while appreciating the artistry behind every bowl and plate.

Discover ten thousand years of culinary history at the Centre Culturel de Chine in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. This exhibition explores the evolution of Chinese gastronomy, from ancient cooking hearths to refined porcelain, divided into four thematic sections. Over thirty historical artifacts are brought to life through immersive digital displays, including light animations and virtual reality. This exhibition highlights the concepts of the harmony of five flavors and cultural diversity. Entrance to the exhibition is completely free of charge and does not require a reservation to visit the main exhibition hall.

From Friday, September 11 to Tuesday, November 10, 2026 (except Sundays, public holidays, and Saturdays during school holidays)

Jointly organized by the China Cultural Center in Paris and the National Museum of China, this exhibition invites you to travel through 10,000 years of Chinese gastronomy. More than 30 pieces of culinary utensils, combined with immersive digital devices (light animations, virtual reality), trace the art of cooking and banqueting through four thematic sections.

From the first cooking hearths of antiquity to refined porcelains, the exhibition reveals how Chinese culinary culture has shaped the concepts of "harmony of the five flavors" and "harmony in diversity."

On the program upon reservation: a lecture by Wang Yueqian, curator of the exhibition, as well as fun guided tours for young audiences.

Our take on this event

Organized by the Centre Culturel de Chine and the National Museum of China, the exhibition 10,000 Years of Culinary Journey runs from September 11, 2026, to November 10, 2026. The display traces the history of Chinese cooking and banquet traditions through a curated selection of over thirty culinary tools, enhanced by interactive digital installations like virtual reality.

The exhibition is open for free entry without a reservation within the classic building of the Centre Culturel de Chine. Please be aware that the venue is closed on Sundays, public holidays, and Saturdays during school vacations.

Visitors can also register for specific scheduled events. The program includes an insightful conference led by the exhibition curator, Wang Yueqian, as well as engaging guided tours tailored specifically for a younger audience.
