About
Guitarist Sébastien Joulie performs at Le Melville on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for an evening of post-bop jazz. Known for his technical mastery and modern approach to the guitar, Joulie draws inspiration from jazz legends while crafting his own original sound. He will be joined by Stéphane Moutot on tenor sax, Slim Chikhaoui on double bass, and Charles Clayette on drums. The quartet will showcase a repertoire shaped by his latest critically acclaimed album, LOADED. The event runs from 20:00 to 23:00 in the 8th arrondissement. Tickets are available for 10 EUR.
A key figure on the jazz scene, Sébastien Joulie keeps the tradition of post-bop guitar jazz alive, from Jimmy Raney to Grant Green, and including Peter Bernstein, with whom he studied in New York. As a composer and arranger, he has already released four albums under his own name on the prestigious Fresh Sound New Talent Records label, bringing together the biggest names in international jazz (Walter Smith III in 2013) and French jazz (Pierre de Bethmann in 2017).
He practices a brand of jazz rooted in its organic and engaged dimension, dominated by resolutely modern sounds. It should be noted that his latest album, LOADED, released at the end of 2024, was unanimously acclaimed by critics and received the Choc Jazz magazine award.
