Connecting through dance: an introductory workshop to dance therapy
As part of the International Mental Health Weeks
Bibliothèque Italie (Paris 13th)
This event has ended.
About
This workshop is a time to reconnect with your breath, yourself, and others. Dance awakens our natural creativity. By moving freely, we rediscover the thread of our sensations and relearn to fully inhabit our bodies. Dancing means allowing ourselves to reconnect with ourselves, with others, and with the life impulse that carries an innate joy within it.
The workshop begins with a warm-up, before exploring several dance proposals. It ends with a time for returning to oneself, resonance, and sharing. Kindness and non-judgment are at the heart of the approach: they create a free atmosphere conducive to imagination.
It is led by dance therapist Mytam Mayo-Smith, within the O2 Danse Thérapie association.
The O2 Danse Thérapie association aims to offer therapeutic support through dance and movement for everyone. It supports and participates in research and training regarding the links between dance and care.
Registration with librarians opens on Thursday, September 17.
No dance prerequisites. Come as you are, in comfortable clothing.
