From November 17 to December 5, 2026, the Ici et ailleurs : Histoires de cuisine event takes place across libraries in the 18th arrondissement. This project showcases the results of months of dialogue between library staff and individuals living in local shelters, focusing on food, memories, and personal experiences. Visitors can explore unique creative works, including sound stories, travel journals, and kamishibai theater. Admission to all activities, including workshops, exhibitions, and storytelling sessions, is completely free of charge, providing a space to connect with local artists and organizations dedicated to solidarity-based food initiatives throughout the neighborhood.
For several months, library teams in the 18th arrondissement and people living in shelters have met to share ideas about food. A whole world opened up, made of stories, memories, knowledge, pleasure, and human warmth. Creations were born from these encounters: travel journals, kamishibai, animated maps, recipes, and sound stories.
Come and discover them in the libraries of the 18th! On the program: screenings, creative workshops, storytelling, exhibitions, and meetings.
An opportunity also to discover the actors of solidarity-based food, solidarity associations, and artists from the 18th.

Our take on this event
Ici et ailleurs : Histoires de cuisine is the culmination of a long-term collaboration between the libraries of the 18th arrondissement and residents of local shelters. Supported by the Direction Régionale des Affaires Culturelles Ile-de-France, the project reflects on the warmth and knowledge surrounding food. Through shared narratives, participants have produced a variety of artistic pieces, such as animated maps, recipes, and personal stories, all of which are showcased during the event.
Running from November 17, 2026, to December 5, 2026, the program offers a diverse range of activities. Attendees can participate in creative workshops, attend film screenings, listen to storytelling, and engage in discussions with local artists and solidarity food actors. This event serves as an open platform to celebrate community bonds and discover the work of those dedicated to social solidarity in the 18th arrondissement. All events are free to attend.
