About
Step into the dreamlike world of Olalaland at the Théâtre de la Bastille, a unique performance crafted by Lionel Dray and Clémence Jeanguillaume. Blending absurdity with poetic flair, the piece follows Madame Olala, a whimsical character navigating a realm where drawings breathe and the mundane meets the fantastic. Drawing inspiration from the silent cinema era, this visual and sonic journey invites audiences to explore the depths of the imagination. Suitable for ages 8 and up, this creative laboratory runs from March 11 to March 18, 2027, offering a sensory odyssey where the tiny meets the infinite.
Olalaland is a riddle that unfolds like a dream. It is the land of a wrong note, 234 dreams, a nation of mice, and a flying shark. And it is also the delicate art of preparing a good breakfast.
But Olalaland is above all the inner and outer world of a whimsical character, Madame Olala, inspired by the silent cinema of Buster Keaton or Jacques Tati, where we move from black and white to color. We find ourselves in her company, crossing an adventure where drawings come to life and breathe, where music crafts paths, where the tiny sits alongside the infinite while the everyday teases the fantastic.
In this joyful creative laboratory, Clémence Jeanguillaume and Lionel Dray craft a playful and poetic show, an absurd and sensitive odyssey for dreamers from age 8 and up.
Our take on this event
At the Théâtre de la Bastille, Lionel Dray and Clémence Jeanguillaume present Olalaland, a production that blurs the lines between dreams and reality. Through the character of Madame Olala, a figure reminiscent of the physical comedy found in Buster Keaton or Jacques Tati films, the audience enters a world where monochrome transitions into vibrant color. The narrative unfolds through an array of oddities, including mice, flying sharks, and musical experiments, creating an atmosphere that is both playful and profoundly sensitive.
The performance is intended for audiences aged 8 and older. Showtimes are available between March 11 and March 18, 2027, with a schedule including mornings on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (09:45), Thursday afternoons (14:30), Wednesday afternoons (15:00), Friday evenings (19:00), and weekends (17:00). Each session lasts 50 minutes. Join the artists at 76 rue de la Roquette in the 11th arrondissement for this unique theatrical experience.
