Bachar Mar-Khalifé plays Christophe
The Théâtre de la Bastille opens up to the music scene in partnership with Astérios, a producer of contemporary music! A side step that is also part of the desire to open the programming to Mediterranean shores.

About
Bachar Mar-Khalifé delivers both a tribute and a free interpretation of the repertoire of Christophe – forever the "Beau Bizarre" of French chanson. This concert is no coincidence. The two men met in 2018 to record the track "Jnoun" together. Defying labels, their music cultivates enchantment and gentle experimentation. Perhaps they also share the Mediterranean in common: for one, Beirut as a lost paradise; for the other, an imagined Italy, he, the last of the Bevilacqua, who sang "Today I have finished / Inventing my life / I imagine Italy".
Surrounded by Dogan Poyraz on drums and Aleksander Angelov on bass, Bachar Mar-Khalifé brushes melodies on his piano, but also seeks in Christophe's songs a pulse, a fervor clashing with jazz, electro, and Lebanese music. As an extension, he also performs some of his own compositions.

Bachar Mar-Khalifé blends jazz, electronics, and Middle Eastern rhythms to transform familiar melodies into something entirely fresh. Expect an atmospheric performance that feels like an intimate conversation between two musical ghosts.
