Painter, textile designer, decorator, and costume designer, she applied her research on colorful rhythms to many fields, from painting to fashion and the decorative arts. A major figure of the 20th-century artistic avant-garde, born in Ukraine and based in Paris, she developed with Robert Delaunay an artistic language based on color, light, and movement, which originated the Orphism movement.
