Located in the 5th arrondissement, the Bibliothèque Buffon hosts the Escalier literary and cultural café sessions. From September 26 to December 19, 2026, these monthly meetings invite book lovers to share their favorite reads, whether they are new novels, recent theater outings, or timeless classics. This event is free of charge and open to anyone aged 18 and over. The venue is fully wheelchair accessible, ensuring a comfortable experience for all attendees. Join this welcoming group to discuss your latest cultural discoveries and gain inspiration from the recommendations of fellow readers in a friendly, intellectual atmosphere.
A book club for some, a literary café for others! Every last Saturday of the month, come share your favorites related to your cultural news, whatever the work: a novel from the new literary season, a trip to the theater or a museum, or a good old classic to help us (re)discover.
Share a friendly moment during the meeting led by a librarian: introduce us to a book you loved, read passages you would like others to hear; listen and let yourself be tempted by the suggestions.

Our take on this event
The Escalier meetings offer a regular space for readers to gather at the Bibliothèque Buffon. Facilitated by a librarian, these sessions encourage participants to present books they have enjoyed, read meaningful passages aloud, or listen to diverse suggestions from the group. The meetings are scheduled for the last Saturday of each month: September 26, October 31, November 28, and December 19, 2026, starting at 10:00.
The inaugural session on September 26 features a special theme: Paris in 1970. Subsequent meetings remain open for attendees to share any cultural highlights, including literary releases, museum visits, or plays. Participation is free and is strictly reserved for individuals aged 18 and up. To ensure inclusivity, the library provides full wheelchair access for all visitors.
